Switch to the employer versionYoung Tasmanians in the north west of the state are being supported to connect to the world of work through a 12 month pilot Youth Career Facilitator project. The delivery of the pilot program is improving connections between local industry, employers and schools to improve outcomes for students employers and the community.
The Youth Career Facilitator, Damian Peirce, said that his extensive experience and deep connections in the region are enabling him to identify creative solutions for meaningful and effective outcomes.
“I’ve been really enjoying getting out and speaking to the schools and employers in the area and seeing how we can better connect them, for the benefit of the students,” Damian said.
Damian also working in collaboration with the West North West Working Jobs Hub.
“Getting everyone on the same page to ensuring there is the right support and connections to help people find a pathway that’s right for them is really important,” Damian said.
Initial learnings from the pilot will also contribute to the development of the Tasmanian Government’s Youth Jobs Strategy and inform the recommendations to government.

A new program to help young people get their drivers licence was launched today in Burnie. The North West Driver Mentor Program will provide free access to a driver mentor to support young people to accrue the 80 hours require to sit their provisional drivers licence test.
