Regional Jobs Hubs Update

13 Dec 2024

This year, the network’s 7th hub officially got up and running - Southern Employment & Training Network are supporting the Channel, Huon Valley, and Bruny Island regions.

Two Engagement Officers have now joined Hub Manager, Cassie Athanasiou and if you are based in the area, we encourage you to reach out to Cassie and the team and see how you might work together. Over in Sorell at Business and Employment Southeast, the Southeast Jobs Hub is celebrating five years of being operational, they have commenced the building of the new Southeast Training and Jobs Hub facility, set to enhance Hub service delivery and community engagement. They also secured the Suburban University Study Hub grant, which will deliver educational support and career pathways for the local community.

At the Southcentral Workforce Network, the Hospitality Ready program funded through Skills Tasmania’s Training and Work Pathways Program (TWPP) supported 16 participants and produced 22 offers of employment. The program was also nominated as one of four finalists in the recent 2024 Tasmanian Training Awards in the Collaboration Category.

The Northern Employment and Business Hub ran a very successful Youth Careers Expo and hosted over 45 exhibitors and 400 students, which resulted in supporting more than a dozen young people with their applications for after-school positions. West North West Working cover a large and diverse region and they have reflected upon the sheer volume of people they have supported, businesses they have engaged with and events and activities that have provided key points of connection.

Break O’ Day Employment Connect and Dorset Employment Connect Hubs were thrilled to launch Project Y in 2024. This custom youth connector program, works with young people, aged under 25, in the regions. The exposure that local young people have been given to opportunities in their own region has had a big impact, both on the future pathways of young people seeking employment but also on the employers in the area who have connected with their future work force.
